FAQ
M51 Questions
When should I upgrade from M42 to M51?
If you're cutting stainless steel, high-alloy tool steel, or experiencing short blade life with M42, M51 is the recommended upgrade. Its powder metallurgy teeth offer higher hardness and fatigue resistance for demanding materials.
What materials is M51 best for?
M51 excels on tough, exotic materials — duplex stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, aluminum bronze, and tempered steels up to ≤ 49 HRC.
Is M51 worth the higher cost?
For hard or abrasive materials, yes. The extended blade life and smoother finish typically more than offset the higher blade price. If you're cutting mild steel only, M42 remains the more economical choice.
Do you supply M51 in custom welded lengths?
Yes. All M51 bandsaw blades are available in custom welded lengths. Send us your blade length, width, thickness and TPI and we'll produce the blade to your specification.
